Trim Video Clips on Windows 7

Here is a tutorial showing how to Trim a video clip from Youtube or a video file.

What you will need is:
1. Windows Movie Maker (I will be using version 2011)
2. Keepvid ... go to this link http://keepvid.com

Let's Get Started!
I will be doing step by step instructions and I will use images to show each step, just click on each image and it will open a new window to see a larger image of that picture. Things highlighted in yellow is what you are looking for.

*Please note that if you already have a mp4 or wmv video file and do not need to download your video from Youtube, then you can skip #1 and go to #2.

1. To get your youtube video go to http://keepvid.com and then put the url of the video in there and click on the Download button. *Make sure your Java is up to date on your computer so that you can use Keepvid. If it is not, you will be prompted to do that first before being able to use the site. A box will pop up and look like this:

Make sure you check the box and then select RUN.
Then when that is finished there should be a list of different downloads available for you to choose from. Find the MP4 file and right click and "save as" and save that file to where you can find it. Download that.

2. Now it is time to open up Windows Live Movie Maker and at the top click on Add Videos and Photos and find your mp4 file that you just downloaded and select that:

Now that your movie is loaded, you will be able to use the player to view your movie so that you can select where you want to edit it.

To quickly trim a video in Movie Maker, play the video you want to trim, and then press the I key to make the current point the start point, or press the O key to make it the end point.

Now it is time to save the movie, in the upper left hand corner is a dark blue box with an arrow pointing down.

Click on that and then choose Save Movie then another box will come up and then choose To Computer. It will now have you name your movie and save it. You now have your movie saved in WMV ready to upload on Youtube.
